Am I getting spam calls in MyMedLeads?

If you've set up any trackable phone numbers in MyMedLeads (Preferences> Phone Number Mgmt), you will get spam calls pretty regularly, just as you probably do on your own personal phones.  There's no way to avoid them, but you can learn how to recognize them and waste less time returning bogus calls.

If the name is "Unavailable," it's not necessarily a spam call.
  1. By default, MyMedLeads records both live calls and voicemails from tracking numbers (how to set up tracking phone number for a lead source,) and leaves a link to listen in the lead's History section.  Usually you only have to listen a few seconds to know if the caller is legit.  You can even get the person's real name from the recording; be sure to update the Name field!

  2. Anyone who takes inbound calls that might be from trackable phone numbers should have MyMedLeads Home or View All Leads page open. The moment you answer a call, the new lead is created, so any Unavailable name that just popped up is very llikely to be the person you're speaking to.

If the lead source is one that usually isn't associated w/inbound calls (ex: Texting-Outbound, the lead source frequently set up with the "From" number for your two-way texting or text appt reminders), it's likely spam. See How to set up a From number for two-way texting.

Many clients report that you'll return a call and the person who answers says that they didn't call you:
