Here is exactly what happens when a text appointment reminder goes out. All practice communications are automated.
Notice that even though the patient thinks you're not getting her first message, you are.
If you set up your user account (Preferences> Edit Staff Preferences) to receive email or text notifications for reschedule requests, you'll get a notification that way as well as in History.
ON HER PHONE, THE PATIENT SEES
Practice: Appointment Reminder: you have an appointment with (practice location) on (date/time). Reply 'c' to confirm or 'r' to reschedule.
Patient: I am replying with a question or comment (instead of c or r)
Practice: I'm sorry but I don't understand your request. Text 'options' for a menu of available commands.
Patient: Options
Practice: OPTIONS: 1) confirm appointment 2) reschedule
Patient: r
Practice: We will call you to reschedule your appointment
Patient: OK I'll be home until 3
Practice: Please feel free to call us if we can assist you in any way.
